Causing a commotion

I used to have a blog on the RuneScape forums I read regularly, but I stopped posting there as no one was commenting and/or reading and I did feel restricted in what I could say (re: swearing). So, I have decided to start a new blog here.

Mostly, this will be about my gaming on RuneScape, a MMORPG I play daily. My husband introduced me to it 3 years ago and I have been playing ever since. I've been a paying member (P2P) for 2 1/2 years now and I feel I've accomplished a lot. I have 2 skills at level 99, all quests are completed and a decent total level. My high scores as of this posting are to your right.

I play at my own pace and try to ignore competing with other players. I fell into that trap long ago and vowed never to be prey to it again. RuneScape (RS) is my fun outlet. I play to get away from Real Life.

Occasionally, I get myself talked into these confusing "means to an end"; re: training 2-5 other skills in order to gain levels in a completely different skill. This past month has been one of those times. I want to extend and build fancier things in my Player Owned House (PoH), specifically the costume room where I keep all the clothes, armor and treasures I can't bear to part with. My goal with construction is level 76 and I am getting there by building and tearing down mithril armor stands in my skills hall. A mithril armor stand requires mithril platebody, mithril skirt, mithril full helm and 2 oak planks. So, in order to get the needed oak planks I decided to train my magic up to level 86. Wtf you say? Yeah. At 86 magic, I can cast a lunar magic spell Plank Make, which I cast on certain types of logs to make planks out of them instead of running to and from the lumbermill.

Why is this spell the cat's meow?

It saves me 75 gp per log. Yup, I'm *that* cheap. Oak logs to planks at the lumbermill art 250 gp each, but with the spell they are 175 gp each. Doesn't sound like much until you figure out the total amount of cash I'm spending. With the spell, I'm spending around 1.4 million as opposed to just over 2 million using the lumbermill.

Last month, I spent a good time at the Mage Training Arena leveling magic by high alchemy. I got my magic level, yayness, and trotted off to get the runes I needed. Last week and Sunday of this week, I finished mining and crafting all the lunar and nature runes I'll need to make enough oak planks to build (and tear down) mithril armor stands until I get 76 construction. Tuesday, I spent chopping down oak trees to get the 8368 oak logs and am slowly making them into planks via the spell.

Side effect: there is no place I can cast Plank Make without attracting a shitload of attention. An animated log hovers above my head and saws grind for each casting. Inveriably, someone will say, "WTF? Wut r u doin?" I reply, "Making planks with lunar magic." To which the response is, "Kwl". I don't mind answering and informing what in Jesus' name is happening over my character's head. But it seems like every 5 minutes, just as I get into a rhythm of clicking, someone asks and I respond.

Well, I converted 1800 oak logs into oak planks and will be walking to and fro the bank and my PoH in Yanille. I'm waiting for someone to ask, "Can I see ur house?" and "Do u have a gilded altar?" Trust me, my house looks like shit. You don't want to be in there. I don't have any game rooms or combat areas. Nothing to see; now kindly fuck off. :)

Also, I did the newest quest King's Ransom. Super easy providing you have the required quests done and skill levels and are following a quest guide. Cheater, cheater, yeah that's me! :P Let someone else do the leg-work here; I want easy shit to do, dammit! No combat which is a wonderful change. I got caught up on escaping the jail cell, but hubby was around and he helped. The reward was very nice - 33k defense XP plus a 5k XP lamp (it went right into construction). Now there's a training game - Knight Waves - and 2 new prayers taunting me serverely. Knight Waves, I must defeat 8 of King Arthur's best knights in melee combat. No prayer, no range and no magic allowed because we are all honorable knights here (You betcha). On my first try, I think I got to knight #7, but I forgot to count. I left when the food was gone.
