With most of today spent in Mort'ton, I finally got that coveted 80 crafting tonight. I hurried to Falador and made glory amulets from the dstones I've been saving for this moment. ^_^
And now, The Rant.
I expect there will be a few people who come to the temple world (now world 77) to finish up the quest or try their hands at some shade burning. Tonight was bad for newbie questions. It was like every 5 minutes, people who've done this before were answering the same damn questions. Of the newbies there, 90% of them hadn't even started Shades of Mort'ton quest! I understand that certain players like to do quests and mini games without spoilers or walkthrus but Jesus Christ on a Popsicle stick! Many of the fan sites with quest guides also have quick walkthrus which don't give away much except the essentials (quest items, who to talk to, etc.). Would it kill these newbies to RTFM (read the fucking manual)? Oh and there were a couple of players who were question begging - you know, begging for free supplies but making it out to be a question: Anyone can give me willow logs? Arielathena, someone I'd only seen tonight, came off as short tempered and mean, but after many hours of listening to the same goddamn questions, can you blame her? Huydo5 was killing me. He's level 77 and gets attacked by the roaming shades. Instead of trying to fight them off, which he is more than capable of doing, he would plead for Help! and Kill this shade!
Also, there were 2 level 40 somethings building on the temple. Well, strike that; they were *standing* inside the temple. Neither had a clue what to do - no supplies for building, nothing to fight with (one wore CW armor and a pirate bandana) and no food (or ate it all). Crassus (not quiet his name, the guy with the CW armor) is stupid. He's determined to keep shades from entering the temple, yet has no food and won't run away. I did give him 5 monkfish before I found out how clueless he is. During 1 fight, he's barely got a sliver of green left and, when encouraged to run away, he whines about how they will get him. *headdesk*
For anyone thinking about coming to World 77 (or whatever the temple building world is) to try this shade burning thing out, read up on the mini game in Jagex's knowledge base or one of the fan sites. If you can't bank in Burgh de Rott, bring the supplies you need instead of mooching off others.
I made a new friend today. He'd mentioned we'd met about 3 weeks ago at the temple building, but I didn't remember him. Then he said he'd been going Bleeeeee!! and I got it. He was very talkative and I didn't mind helping him a bit. I bought him a hammer so he could build 'cause he forgot his. I learned he was trying to get fine cloth for splitbark armor (he uses the body part for PKing) and was having a helluva time getting some. I have plenty of it sitting my bank, which I will never sell as I suck ass at merchanting. I offered him enough to get 5 splitbark bodies made, but he refused. He had no money (lost it all in a stake iirc) and it took a while to talk him into accepting a gift. He promised to pay me back after some good PKs, but it doesn't bother me to get any money for it.
In the WTF file:
I guess gnomes are filling in the agility tunnel they made by Varrock castle? o_O

Is Mort'ton Shades a very good way to raise Crafting? I used to play this game a lot but for splitbarks and prayer, not Crafting.
Gloria... Gloria... It always reminds me a very sad Russian song about horses in the ocean. I guess that's silly, but here it is. It is about a ship called Gloria. She sailed with a thousand horses on board and got hit by a mine. The ship started to sink. People took the boats and sailed away and horses swam behind. So it seemed like a red island in the ocean. Horses could swim but not far and not for a long time. They swam and thought it is just a river. But there was no end to the river. Horses swam and neighed, swam and neighed until there were horses no more...
Building the temple isn't great XP, but I like doing it because it helps out other people and I can get the planks and limestone bricks for free.
Glorious, glorious glories!
Congrats on your drool-icious crafting level :P Going for another 99? ;)
I played the temple game just a little while ago for the quest, and I prtty much didn't have a clue about what was gonig on in the game except that I click on the wall and watch till the flames burn :P
And after that run like made away from the shades which follow you everywhere.
But I feel sorry for your abundance of.. of.. tidiots. That's right. Temple idiots. *inserts pillow between head and dek*
I don't start school untill. wait I start school in 3 days @_@ Tell her happy birthday for me! :)
Ah! That was me. I was doing the quest and kept messing up and running out of materials, so I was having to cadge logs out of people with axes. The bank seemed a very long way, away.
A bank near by? I'm going to have to look up the quest to do that and then be far more useful at the temple.
